Today we decided that we needed to clean the covers on the
sofa and beds so we took the time to stop at a nice little laundromat in Conway
before hitting the road.
We headed up 16 North on the road towards Dexter, ME a place
that Jimmy spent time at when he was younger (about 60 years younger ;-). So we picked up 2 East in Gorham, NH and
droned our way over towards Skowhegan, ME. What gorgeous, green country and
except for the occasional woodchuck we have not seen any other wild life unless
you count Molly. This is perfect moose
country so we have been a little surprised that we haven’t seen any. It just might have something to do with all
the motorcycles running around for Motorcycle Weekend in Laconia, NH. Good time to be going in the other direction.
We stopped along the way at a scenic location to eat lunch
and take some photos of the view. I’m not sure when I took photos of a covered
bridge but I will tell you they are all over the place in New Hampshire and
Maine.
Somewhere around Gorham we found an old train museum and
although we took some pictures we sad to see the engines and cars were in
pretty tough shape. They even had an old B&M engine in red and gold with a
blue and white B&M logo on it.
We continued into Maine and made our way to Peaks-Kenny
State Park in Dover-Foxcroft, ME. Since the gal promised me a site on the phone
she put us in the Host’s site for the night.
We will finally head into Dexter tomorrow and then pickup route 2 again
heading towards Holton, Me. We will keep you posted.
Hopefully we will be able to post some of these journal
entries soon.
Enjoying your adventure.
